Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church is a participating member of Open Hands United Christian Ministry.
Open Hands United Christian Ministry is a collaborative effort by member churches to better coordinate and enhance the effectiveness of the benevolence ministries of those involved.
Open Hands focuses on providing assistance to those in need who reside within the Central and Carrollton School Districts. Churches that commit to partner in this ministry provide prayer support, volunteers, and financial support.
The volunteer staff at Open Hands is led by Director Nita Moore who is assisted by an advisory board consisting of representatives from each participating church.
Available services include: Bibles and Prayer Support, Food Assistance, Reading Glasses, Warm Winter Clothing & Blankets, Personal Care Items (Soap, Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, etc), and Financial Assistance for housing & utilities.

In 1833, a 19-year-old college student and his friends began serving the poor in Paris, France. This was the beginning of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Today, there are more than 400,000 members serving in 133 countries around the globe.
The Society came to the United States in 1845 and a conference was formed in St. Louis, Missouri. The first presence of the Society in Georgia began in1903 at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Atlanta.
There are 68 Conferences in the Atlanta Council involving more than 2,000 members in spiritual growth, friendship and service to the poor throughout north and central Georgia. In recent years, Vincentians annually serve more than 100,000 people, providing over $4 million in financial assistance.
Covering Carroll and Harralson Counties, the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Our Lady of Perpetual Help helps struggling families meet short term and intermediate needs of basic living. We deliver assistance and instill hope in a non-discriminating manner. We help by assisting with payment of utility bills, rent, temporary housing, medicine, transportation, and other needs. Through home visits focused on determining the root causes of family needs, we strive to find a solution that will provide for sustainable independence.
